How has your week been?
We had family visiting from The Netherlands via Indonesia last week. We all filled our cups both soulfully and with much chai :)
A short story...
A few weeks ago, I was on a webinar run by one of the big investing platforms. There were 160 people on zoom and the chat was busy. I asked this question:
"Is there any good performing ETF's that are not earth destroyers or in defence? "
The finance expert webinar host, when he saw my question in the chat, said:
"I have a peculiar question from Rachel Biffin"
These words startled me. Outside of being an unprofessional remark, (let's not get personal here webinar host!) I thought it was a pretty standard question and not peculiar i.e. out of the ordinary. I drew the conclusion that not investing in organisations that damage and pollute the earth wasn't mainstream thinking. This saddened me.
What was also contradictory is that the webinar host went on the give quite a good run down of sustainable ETF's to invest in. As my youngest says when he doesn't know the answer to something, "Question mark".
This has given me further fuel to continue bringing Chai Supply's business practices in line with our sustainability goals...
